Job Summary
The Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of landscape maintenance services. This role involves supervising and training field staff, managing resources, ensuring compliance with safety and service standards, and contributing to customer satisfaction. The Crew Leader will be responsible for both summer and winter operations, focusing on optimizing crew performance, promoting health and safety, and achieving contractual service requirements.
Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and lead crew leaders and crew members year-round (summer/winter).
- Assign and monitor equipment and materials used by crews.
- Conduct daily site inspections to ensure work meets quality and contractual standards.
- Provide on-the-job training in landscape techniques, customer service, and health & safety.
- Ensure all safety protocols and HR policies are followed by crew members.
- Manage work schedules and daily job assignments for optimal crew productivity.
- Actively participate in and lead snow and ice management operations in the winter season.
- Address and resolve customer service issues, and implement preventive procedures.
- Complete and ensure accuracy of documentation including time sheets, work tickets, vehicle logs, and job costing reports.
- Promote and maintain morale among field staff through recognition, support, and encouragement.
- Conduct and document performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and staff development.
- Hold regular Health & Safety Meetings and Tailgate Talks with crew.
- Encourage ongoing education by recommending industry courses or seminars to staff.
- Assist in organizing and monitoring yard and facility maintenance.
- Identify and report turf, shrub, and flower issues during the growing season and winter safety concerns during cold months.
Education & Experience
- Degree/diploma in horticulture, landscaping, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of hands-on landscape maintenance and supervisory experience.
- Completion of at least one industry-related course or seminar per year.
- Certifications and licenses as required by applicable Federal and Provincial laws.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Capable of writing detailed reports, policies, and procedural documentation.
- Confident in presenting information and leading crew meetings.
Mathematical Skills
- Competent in calculating measurements for area, volume, percentages, and materials usage.
Reasoning & Analytical Ability
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to collect data, draw conclusions, and make informed decisions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
